October, 2009
A Parting Message from President Shirley Schapero President 2008 and 2009 The end of the 2009 baseball season concludes my third tour as President of the Oakland Athletics booster Club.
It has been an honor to be your President and I hope you have enjoyed the Booster Club and the baseball these past two seasons. Athletics in 2009 The 2009 season was a time of new faces, growth, Mark Ellis, Kurt Suzuki, the return of freinds Jason Giambi and
Mike Gallego, a very young pitching staff that developed in front of us during the season, an ex Angel, Adam Kennedy,
that was a significant contributor, Cliff Pennington and an improving Derrick Barton. Also, Bobbie Crosby played the
infield and developed skills at all infield positions that should make him more valuable. I extend my appreciation and thanks to the many: - I would like to thank the Board for their help during my Presidency.
- I
would like to thank the representatives of the Athletics organization who helped me these past two years.
- I thank our guests and MCs for making our luncheons fun and interesting.
- I would also like to thank the membership for their support of me.
In
addition , I welcome our new President, Don Promes. And I'm looking forward to spring
training and the Athletics 2010 baseball season. As always, Go a's Shirley

*A's
memories - updated October 16, 2009 Over the years, Oakland Athletics fans have enjoyed many A's baseball and facility memories in the
Coliseum. A few examples are: Eric chavez, Mark Ellis, Kurt Suzuki, Rajai Davis, Ryan Sweeney, Brett Anderson,
Andrew Bailey, Trevor Cahill, Miggie's growth to his MVP season, building the "outfield hotel" before our eyes,
the 20 game win streak and the list goes on. These are but a few of the bright spots and I'm sure many of you would add other
players and events. Not forgotten are Byrnes, Jose, Big Mac, Carney, Sal, Vida, Rickey, Stu, Joe Rudi, Hendu and
a book full of others. And let us not forget a mule named Charlie "O" with a beautiful trailer
pulled by a Chrysler. If you have memories that you'd like to share, use the contact us link at the left and send it to the board.
We will share your memories on this web page. We'll be sure to give credit you for your contributon. The 2010 Booster Club Officers and
